DURING RENOVATION

Our Jones Building and Gym are closed for renovation until the fall of 2018. During this time, some programs have had to be suspended or moved to other locations. We will not have basketball this season (see letter below), except for Mini-Jammers.

No Basketball for 2017-18

Dear parents & basketball players,

Recreation is a vital ministry to Idlewild Presbyterian Church, and it is with great sadness that we announce that we will not be participating in school-age youth basketball (girls and boys 6-12 yrs) this winter. Idlewild has begun a major renovation of the Jones Building which houses our gymnasium. For safety reasons, the entire building is a hardhat construction area. It has been our hope to find an alternate space for our basketball ministry. However, after exploring numerous nearby locations over many months, we have been unable to find adequate space for all the school-age children our basketball program serves. Although we considered a smaller program, we decided that we did not want to offer a basketball program that could not welcome all.

We are sharing this information so that you have time to make other arrangements for this season. We have notified the other churches in the ESCRA league, and we will work with you to find a place for your child on one of their teams. We anticipate this being a one season closure and apologize for any inconvenience this causes. We are deeply grateful for the volunteers and coaches who have helped make our programs successful. The children in our recreation programs are a joy, and we will miss their lively energy this winter.

Mini-Jammers Basketball WILL BE HELD for 4 & 5 year olds

Due to the different needs of our younger children, we will be able to offer our Mini-Jammer program for 4-5-year-old girls and boys in January and February 2018. Mini-Jammers is a beginner coed basketball program for four & five year olds. All our games and practices will be held at Lindenwood Christian Church this year due to our construction project. Registration is open until December 22 for the upcoming season, which is mid-January to mid-February.
