Youth
Ministries

Idlewild's
Youth Ministry is divided into two groups: QUEST
for middle school students, and BASIC for
senior high students. Each group meets several times each week for fellowship,
study and mission projects; in addition, several retreats and trips are
scheduled each year.

BASIC
Brothers And Sisters In Christ
This
Ministry is provided for Senior High members, friends, and visitors of
Idlewild Presbyterian Church. During the school year BASIC meets together
four times a week: Sunday mornings, Sunday nights, Thursday nights, and
for Bible studies in small groups.
Each
Sunday morning BASIC Church School meets in the Wrenn Room (Jones Education
Building, basement). On
Thursday nights members assist in the hosting of More Than a Meal, a community
gathering for anyone in need of a free meal. BASIC members help serve
the meal, then have the opportunity to sit and get to know our guests.
BASIC
Trips and Retreats
There are five annual BASIC trips: the Presbytery-wide Senior High Retreat,
Montreat Conference Center, summer mission trip, NaCoMe fall camp, and
NaCoMe spring camp. In
the Spring, during the Presbytery-wide Senior High Youth Retreat, Idlewild
members share with other Senior high school students from across the Presbytery
about topics that face them today.
Each
summer BASIC members travel together to Montreat, North Carolina for a
week at the Montreat Youth Conference. Senior High school students from
across the country gather to hear speakers from around the world. See
pictures from this year's conference below.
NaCoMe
family camps are always highlights of the year. Each spring and fall,
hundreds of members of the Idlewild church family travel to NaCoMe Conference
Center for a weekend of dancing, recreation, worship, fellowship, and
good food. BASIC members enjoy the weekend together in the luxurious BASIC
cabin.
