Children’s Summer Classes
During 8:30 a.m. Sunday Worship
Children through Sr. K can go to the nursery. After the service, parents need to escort Pre-K, Jr-K and Sr-K children to class in Room 203W.
During 11:00 a.m. Sunday Worship
Babies, toddlers and two year olds can stay in the nursery. Pre-K, Jr-K and Sr-K will go with parents to worship then, following “Time with the Younger Church” they may either stay in worship or go to Children’s Church Continued.
Sunday Church School (9:40–10:40 a.m.)
About classes and grades: During the summer the elementary children continue in the same class; e.g., a child who completes senior kindergarten in May 2008 will still be in the preschool class. Children are promoted to their new classes in September.

The curriculum used in Pre-K through Elementary classes, with three units on worship, the church and favorite Bible stories, is geared for the different ages using stories from both the Old and New Testaments. This helps children explore worship, why we go to church, and read the Bible.
Special Upcoming Dates For Children
August 17: Back to School Breakfast for children and parents.
August 24: Recreation Sunday for all children in the Gym.
September 7: New fall church school classes begin.
September 21: Children’s Communion Workshop for second graders and their parents.
Childcare
on Sunday Mornings
Idlewild offers church school
and childcare for our youngest members designed to make worshipping here an enriching,
as well as enjoyable, experience for the whole family.
Care for Infants and Toddlers is provided during both 8:30 and 11:00 Sunday morning services.
C3: Children's Church Continued is an extended session during the 11:00 worship service for children under six.

In addition to Sunday morning classes (9:40-10:40) for children, teens and adults, a variety of study and fellowship opportunities are available for all ages. Please pick up the brochures on church school and spiritual development and fellowship for details and schedules.

Nursery, Toddlers, Two Year Olds
All classes and nursery are in the Jones
Bldg., main floor, east wing
Infants - Loving, nurturing care is provided for the littlest members of our church family.
Toddlers - A monthly theme and weekly routine provide these active members with lots of learning
opportunities.
Two Year Olds (Room 212E) - Explore simple Bible stories using the Bible Quest PC(USA) curriculum, with lots of time for active play.
PRESCHOOL
All preschool classes are in the Jones Bldg., main floor, west wing
Using the BibleZone Live! curriculum,
preschoolers explore the world through Bible stories, songs, play and joyful noise as they experience
the sights, sounds, tastes smells, and textures.
ELEMENTARY
Classrooms are in the Jones Bldg., third floor, east wing
Children in grades 1-6 use the "We Believe" curriculum.
First Graders meet in Room 310E.
Second Graders meet in Room 311E.
Third-Fourth Graders meet in Room 312E.
Fifth-Sixth Graders meet in Room 309E. They study issues relevant to the life of preteens through both Biblical discussion and video clips.
Children's Choirs

CHERUB CHOIR (Jr./Sr. Kindergarten)
Rehearsals (September-May) are at 9:40 a.m., during the first half of Sunday church school in Room 201W. Rehearsals begin Sept. 10.
PRIMARY CHOIR (Grades 1–3)
JUNIOR CHOIR (Grades 4–6)
Primary and Junior Choirs rehearse (September-May) together on Wednesdays, 6:20–7:00 p.m. in the Choir Room. Rehearsals begin Wednesday, Sept. 6.
Wednesday Evenings Living and Learning (WELL)
WELL (September-May) is designed to offer individuals and families a wellspring of options for deepening their relationships with God and one another. Participants may select from various offerings that accommodate a wide spectrum of interests and schedules. Courses change approximately every six weeks, allowing adults to alternate between study and discussion groups, recreational, and arts and crafts classes. Activities for children and youth are consistent week-to-week, with changes for special events.
