Pastor Steve’s sermon this week continues the Questions from the Floor II series with “What Does It Mean to be Stewards of the Mysteries of God?” Read/listen to sermon archives.

 

Teacher dedication will take place during the 11:00 worship service this Sunday. We are grateful for all our church school teachers in children, youth and adult ministries.

 

Helpers are needed for Children’s Church Continued during 11:00 worship. Sign up at church Sunday morning or contact Elizabeth Houston, ehouston@idlewildchurch.org.

Sole to Soul 5K and Trivia Night

 

Sole to Soul 5K - Saturday, September 25. The race begins at 8:00 a.m. in the Idlewild Church parking lot. One-mile family fun walk, games for children, live music after the race. Soul Fest Trivia Night - Friday, Sept. 24. A fun night out for grown-ups only! Decorate your table Memphis style! Win door prizes! Bring your own dinner or pre-order pizza! Call 725-4165 to register as a team ($40 per table/8 people) or individual ($5).

Community events for everyone

 

One Memphis. One Love - Thursday, Sept. 16 at Levitt Shell. This concert will feature an interfaith, community-wide gathering of youth, choirs and musicians, as well as civic and human rights activists including Idlewild Pastor Steve Montgomery, Dr. Frank Thomas, Rabbi Micah Greenstein, the Rev. Marilynn S. Robinson, and Father John Pitzer. Community picnic is at 6:00 p.m., the concert begins at 7:00 on Thursday, Sept. 16 at Levitt Shell (Overton Park). Dr. Luke Timothy Johnson will be lecturing in the University Theater at CBU on Thursday, Sept. 16 at 7:00 p.m., on “How is the Bible True? Complicating the Question.” Free and open to the public. Dr. Johnson is a professor at Candler School of Theology. Click here for details.

 

Gather at the River - September 24-25. On Friday & Saturday, September 24-25, over 300 people from communities of faith along the Mississippi River will come together to learn about how we can all protect and preserve our River. For conference information visit www.gatherattheriver.org.
