Chimes Submission Guidelines
The purpose of Chimes is to offer news about programs, special activities and events at Idlewild. News about community groups with strong ties to Idlewild (e.g., MIFA, Church Health Center, Dismas House) is sometimes printed. Personal items and information about community activities are not published as a rule.
An effort is made to include all relevant submissions as space permits. If a submission is not time-sensitive, it may be held for a future issue. Please remember, your information may be edited or corrected for grammar/spelling and space. Photos or special clipart are used as space permits.
TIPS...
- Keep it short.
- Don't forget the 5 Ws: who, what, when, where, why.
- Include your name and phone number or e-mail.
- Write in the third person unless it is actually a personal account.
- Be sure to have phone number and e-mail address for any contact person.
- If you are thanking people, be careful about listing names—it’s too easy to leave someone out—and check spelling carefully.
- If your committee is considering a special article or series, please contact Ginny Moore at gmoore@idlewildchurch.org.
- Keep it very short.
NEWS IS …
- UPCOMING EVENT: Something special taking place that month.
- FOLLOW-UP: Report on events that happened the previous month.
- INFORMATION: What is a program about, when was it started, who has it helped, how can folks get involved? (Again, keep it short.)
